After the death of a loved one who has done Trust based planning, a period of Trust Administration begins. This can range from several months to many decades depending upon the terms of the Trust. If an individual, as opposed to a Bank, Trust Company, or other Corporate Trustee has been named we are available to assist with the Trust Administration. The successor trustee(s) will be required to account for all assets of the Trust, determine distributions, file tax returns, and make investment decisions. This may involve the Trustee consulting with CPA's, investment advisors, and others. It may also involve communication with beneficiaries and evaluation of the obligations to distribute trust assets. While there can be no question that Trust based planning is far preferable in many, if not most situations, the proper administration of the Trust is essential to the ultimate success of the plan. Contact us if you would like to discuss this further, or if you would like us to assist you with Trust Administration. |
